Mark Steven Elkins 1956-2019

Funeral services for Mark Steven Elkins, 62, of Hawkins were Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at First Assembly of God in Hawkins with Rev. Don Majors conducting. Interment was at Hawkins Cemetery in Hawkins.

Mr. Elkins passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019, in Tyler. He was born on July 16, 1956, in Denton, Texas, to the late James Clay Elkins and Yolanda Hernandez Elkins.

Mr. Elkins owned his own trucking company for many years until he retired. He was a longtime member of First Assembly of God in Hawkins. He served the Hawkins Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years, was a Wood County Sheriff’s deputy for many years, and was an avid hunter and musician.

He is survived by his mother, Yolanda Elkins of Hawkins; wife, Marleen Elkins of Hawkins; son James Elkins of Fort Worth; daughter, Sarah Elkins of Hawkins; brother, Bucky Elkins of Hawkins; sisters, Lizabeth Jean Elkins of Hawkins and Sharon Alexandre of Visalia, Calif.; one grandchild, two nephews, and a great-nephew.
