MHS boys beat Lone Oak; girls drop close one
Mineola split the away series with the Lone Oak Buffaloes April 2. The Yellowjackets sailed to a 16-4 win while the Lady Jackets fell 4-3.
The baseball team exploded for 13 base hits on the night and generated a nine-run sixth inning to eclipse Lone Oak. Dalton Rogers and Conner Dobbs each belted three hits, and pitcher River Simonek picked up the win.
Despite generating 10 hits on the night, the Lady Jackets could produce only one scoring rally in the loss to Lone Oak. Four Jackets errors contributed to the Lady Buffaloes registering scores in the first, third and sixth innings.
Mineola’s Emily Wiley and Claudia Barriga stroked two hits apiece.
