Mineola Hay Show entries due Aug. 20

The day for submitting hay samples for the 54th annual Mineola Hay Show will be Thursday, Aug. 20. Exhibitors wanting to enter this year’s Hay Show should bring samples to the Lester Cole Show Arena between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the 20th. Entry to the collection site is located between the Mineola Middle School and the football field off of Loop 564. Direction signs will be posted.

The forage lab at Texas A&M University will test this year’s samples. It is always very important to know the feeding value of hay to know what supplementation, if any, is needed. The Hay Show is an excellent opportunity for those that feed hay to determine that feeding value. Even if hay is purchased, this is a good opportunity to learn its nutritional value.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
