The Mineola school district is buying more property.
The school board voted Monday to spend $500,000 to purchase the property on the north side of the campuses along West Loop 564.
The property owned by Shirley Raper includes a 2,900-square- foot house, several outbuildings and just under 14 acres. It is adjacent to the baseball/softball complex.
Several resignations and hires were approved by the board.
Superintendent Cody Mize said the district has one opening left on the teaching staff for high school chemistry.
The resignation of chemistry teacher Kevin Clevenger was among those approved by the board.
Resignations were also approved for fifth grade teacher Julie Conner, 8th grade science teacher Megan Brown and high school instructional coach Tara Turner.
Bids for five plumbing projects were accepted from Rudd Plumbing in Tyler for $238,000.
Only two of the projects can be accomplished this summer for $88,000. The rest will have to wait until next summer to address some issues with aging buildings.
