Can you believe school has resumed? Wow. Where did the days of summer go? Never fear, the library has many programs planned for the fall.

We will be closed Saturday, Sept. 3 for the Labor Day Holiday.

When we re-open on Tuesday, Sept. 6, we will begin Toddler Story Time at 9 a.m. for children 18 months to 3 years with a parent or caregiver. This program brings a story, activity and social time for children to interact with each other and for parents to talk with each other.

The First Tuesday After School Club will meet on Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. and each first Tuesday through at least December. This is for kindergarten to high school. It will last 30 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the group and the activity planned.

Wednesday at 10 a.m. will be Preschool Story Time. This is for four and five year olds with a parent or caregiver. Here the children will hear 2-3 stories and have an activity related to the story.

American Girls Historical Reading Club will meet on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. to learn more about Kaya from 1764. This is for girls age 7 and older with their mom. Registration/sign-up is a must and may be done by calling the library, 903-569-2767, by close of business Thursday, Sept. 8.

East Texas Library Friends book club will be meeting on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. in the library to discuss “Cold Sassy Tree” by Olive Ann Burns. There will be refreshments. All are welcome to join the discussion.

Writing of book clubs, we have several book club bags. These bags contain at least four copies of a given book along with discussion questions. If your book club is looking for something to read, you might try one of these. The person who checks out the bag is responsible for the bag and its contents. This person will assign books to members, collect them after they are finished reading and return the complete bag to the library.

Need access to these materials and our on-line offerings? Get a library card. They are free and may be obtained in person for access to everything or on-line for access to our on-line offerings. September is Library Card Sign-Up month, and we’d love to help you get one.

Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax-deductible. We thank the Carters for their donation.
