Here we are in January of 2024. Can you believe it? We hope you had a safe and happy weekend celebration of a new year. In our next column, we will share our 2023 accomplishments and the value of the library to the community.

We have a couple of new displays for this month. One is a display of books on the DAR reading list. This was made possible with a generation donation from the Elizabeth Denton English Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. Don’t know what that is? Please, stop by and see it.  You might find something interesting to read.

Have you set a reading goal for this year? Our second display is a combination of book clubs we will try and follow as the budget allows in the new year. We will attempt to keep up with Reese’s book club, Read with Jenna, GMA book club, Mocha Girls Read, East Texas Perfictionist, and an interesting reading challenge to read through the decades. Maybe these will help you with your reading goals for this year.

Toddler Time continues on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. for children 18 months to 3 years and their parent/caregiver.  Preschool Story Time for the 3-ish to 5 year old crowd and their parent/caregivers will meet on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Home-school Heroes first session of 2024 is Friday, Jan. 5 and will feature a craft dealing with bird feeders and bird facts. It will meet at 10 a.m.

We are so fortunate to have generous people and groups in Mineola that support the library. We are not city or county funded which means no tax dollars are part of our budget. We are a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations are a blessing.
