Officers assisted with blocking traffic so that heavy equipment could be unloaded on to property at the 300 block of E. Broad for road construction. Officers assisted multiple times throughout the day with numerous pieces of equipment.

Mineola Police Report

April 16

9:09 a.m. Officers assisted with blocking traffic so that heavy equipment could be unloaded on to property at the 300 block of E. Broad for road construction. Officers assisted multiple times throughout the day with numerous pieces of equipment. 

3:34 p.m. Officers were called to the 700 block on Goodson Circle for an inquest. 

8:49 p.m. Officer assisted a man in the N. Newsom and Good St. area who was attempting to locate his keys after he drove off with the keys on the hood of his car. The keys were located. 

April 17

8:07 a.m. The department received several calls about a suspicious man walking in and around the McWhorter St. and Baker St. area. Officer made contact with the man and advised him of the governor’s stay at home orders.

11:33 a.m. An officer was requested in the 600 block of Sycamore St. when a postal delivery worker reported a person from that area yelling profanity at him while he was trying to deliver the mail. Officer talked to both parties involved. 

2:35 p.m. An officer was flagged down at Good and Wigley St. The subject had questions about a tree that had been damaged in the storm. 

2:47 p.m. Dispatch received a call from a Baker St. address of a disturbance between a man and woman who were reported yelling at each other. After further investigation it was found that the two were siblings and a disagreement had occurred. Officers advised that the disagreement had been resolved. The siblings left together, and the manager of the property requested a criminal trespass warning be issued. 

7:28 p.m. Trash was reported dumped in a ditch in the 500 block of Giraud St. This investigation is open pending additional information. 

April 18

11:30 a.m. A minor accident was reported in the 500 block of W. Patten St. Accident occurred while backing a vehicle. Information was exchanged; no report filed. 

5:06 p.m. A criminal mischief report was filed when lights were found to have been broken at the train depot on E. Front St. Investigation is ongoing.

7:19 p.m. A group of juveniles was reported loitering at the car wash located on E. Broad St.  The subjects were identified by officers and everyone was asked to leave the property. 

April 19

12:08 a.m. A disturbance was reported in the 900 block of N. Pacific St. Disturbance was found to be over a child custody exchange. Officers talked with both parties who stated it was verbal only, and after investigation the two parties were separated for the night.

12:11 a.m. Officers assisted Mineola Fire Department and EMS with a structure fire on Brenda Lane. The scene was released to the fire department upon their arrival. 

12:57 p.m. Officer assisted EMS when a mother brought her child to the police department for medical assistance. The child was transported by EMS.

11:29 p.m. A woman was reported knocking on doors in the 600 block of W. Broad St. An officer talked with the woman. The woman was identified and asked to leave the area. 

April 20

2:30 a.m. Officers responded to cows out in the roadway in the 1000 block of S. Pacific St. Cows were put in a pasture and the owner was contacted.

7:30 a.m. The Mineola Country Club reported criminal mischief when someone vandalized the northwest side of the golf course. This case is under investigation.

5:08 p.m. Officers assisted a resident when a snake was found inside a home in the 800 block of Wren St. The snake was located and removed by the officers. 

6:17 p.m. A woman reported a theft when she used the Walmart self-check lane and requested cash back. The woman failed to immediately retrieve the cash and when she returned, she discovered that her money had been removed. This case is under investigation. 

6:20 p.m. A report of phone harassment was received when a woman heard threatening voicemail messages on her phone in the 1100 block of N. Newsom St. Officers listened to messages. After further investigation it was discovered that the messages were meant for someone other than the owner of the phone.  

April 21

12:37 a.m. An animal bite was reported in the 100 block of Nancy St. by a medical facility. The animal has been placed in quarantine as required by state law. 

10:15 p.m. A woman in 500 block of W. Kilpatrick St. reported that her juvenile son had left the house and she was unable to locate him. Officers assisted in locating the juvenile, who was returned home. 

April 22

11:45 p.m. Mark Edward Johnson, 34, of Mineola was arrested for public intoxication. Officers received a call from a business in the 700 block of Mimosa St. that they had a subject on their property who was asked to leave and refused. After a wide range of standard field sobriety tests was conducted, it was found that Johnson was a danger to himself and to others and was placed into custody.
