Mineola Police Report

May 7

12:31 a.m. John Lopez, 19 of Mineola was arrested for public intoxication. A caller reported that a male was walking in the middle roadway in the 800 block of McWhorter St. The caller stated that the male then fell in the ditch and when he tried to help, the subject became combative. He was checked out by EMS and then placed into custody.  

8:08 a.m. A caller from the 100 block of Stone St. reported possible criminal mischief, his vehicle had been scratched. The scratches were later found to have been made from small children. No report was filed.  

10:25 a.m. Seven puppies were discovered under a house in the 600 block of Hogg St. The puppies seemed to be in good health and were taken to the animal shelter. A short time later all seven puppies were picked up by a rescue group. 

3:34 p.m. Dispatchers received several 9-1-1 hang up calls from the 500 block of N. Pacific St. Officers spoke to a parent who stated their young child had been playing on the phone. 

3:39 p.m. Officers assisted the Lindale Police Dept. in looking for a stolen vehicle from their city believed to be in the Mineola area. The vehicle was later recovered by another agency. 

6:22 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 800 block of Sycamore St. Three family members were involved. Officers separated all parties. No one wished to file charges. All parties were separated for the night and mandatory reports were completed. 

11:21 p.m. A disturbance was reported in the 700 block of Goodson Circle. Caller advised that a male outside the house was screaming at a female inside the house. Subjects were identified and advised it was a verbal disagreement only. No offense was committed.

May 8

8:19 a.m. Officers located a woman inside Walmart who was known by officers to be trespassed from that location. The woman was detained and removed from the property.  A warrant for her arrest is pending. 

10:43 a.m. A concerned citizen reported that as he was driving in the 500 block of W. Buchanan St., he noticed a woman who seemed to be in distress. The man stopped and checked on the woman who was having a hard time breathing. Officers and EMS were dispatched. The woman was transported to the hospital by EMS. 

10:43 a.m. A credit card fraud report was taken when a man started receiving statements in the mail advising that his fuel card had been used in Austin. The man stated that he did not use the card in Austin and the card has been used on several occasions without his consent. A report was filed and this case is under investigation. 

1:48 p.m. Officers assisted the Mineola water department with blocking the roadway for underground repairs. Road blockage was reported at E. Broad St. and N. Pacific St. 

4:20 p.m. An employee at a business in the 1100 block of E. Broad St. reported a suspicious person coming into the business. The business reported that the man was talking about strange things and wanted them to dial 911 for him. Officers made contact with the man. After further investigation it was determined that the man’s vehicle had broken down. An officer took the subject back to his vehicle. 

4:24 p.m. A business in the 300 block of E. Broad St. requested a man be criminally trespassed from their property. The man was located and a trespass order was issued and signed. 

May 9

7:46 p.m. Officers responded to a dog chasing children in the 400 block of Meredith St. Officers attempted to make contact with the owners of the dog. Owners were not home at the time. Dog was taken to the animal shelter and later reclaimed by owners. 

9:29 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Francis St. in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation it was found that an argument had started over the removal of items from the property.  The argument was verbal only and parties decided to separate for the evening and return at a later date. 

May 10

9:26 a.m. Walmart reported a man inside the store cursing at employees and causing a disturbance. The store requested that the man be removed from the property. The man had left prior to the officer’s arrival. 

7:46 p.m. A male and female were reported in a heated disagreement in a yard in the 300 block of Krause St.  Officers advised the parties had separated for the evening and no physical contact was made between the two. Verbal only, no offense was committed. 

May 11

9:15 a.m. A disturbance was reported in the 600 block of Freeman St. One of the subjects involved in the disturbance had left prior to the officer’s arrival. Officers spoke to a man on the scene who advised that the confrontation was over a truck. After further investigation it was found that the issue would be a civil matter.

10:08 p.m. Dennis Edward Brown Jr, 48 of Mineola was arrested for public intoxication after a call of a man shinning a light from his cell phone in a yard in the 400 block of W. Buchanan St.

May 12

9:25 a.m. A theft was reported in the 300 block of Greenville Hwy. Investigators are working with Adult Protective Services on a case where funds are being misused. This case is under investigation. 

May 13

9:12 a.m. Officers and investigators responded to a welfare concern in the 1000 block of N. Newsom St. Rhonda Cox, 53, of Mineola was found deceased in her home. Justice of the peace was contacted. Investigation continues. 

11:21 a.m. A man in the 300 block of W. Buchanan St. reported a criminal mischief offense. A fence on the property had been tampered with. 

12:19 p.m. Animal control officers were called to the 100 block of Gerald St. to rescue a kitten from a dryer vent. The kitten was safely removed and taken to the shelter to be adopted.  

4:03 p.m. An out-of-town man reported an argument between him and his girlfriend on the side of the roadway. Officers responded to the 400 block of E. Broad St. Officer talked with both parties and found it to be verbal only.  The two were separated. No offense committed. 

6:50 p.m. Officers assisted a motorist in the 400 block of E. Broad St. The man’s vehicle had lost power. The vehicle was boosted and the subject was able to continue his drive.
