Mineola Police Report, Jan. 17-23

January 23
11:09 a.m. A woman reported her vehicle getting hit in the Walmart parking lot the night before without any notification from the driver of the other vehicle. This is under investigation.
4:09 p.m. Aaron’s Rental reported a theft of service when a person rented items from them and did not pay or return the property.
5:17 p.m. A reckless driver was reported on 37 South headed into the city. The vehicle turned into Walmart. When officers arrived the driver was already in Walmart.
January 22
9:40 a.m. An officer assisted an elderly resident with some problems she was having with her utility bills not getting paid by a person that was taking her money.
10:45 a.m. A man reported his Valero card was used in the Dallas area for large amounts of fuel without his permission.
11:02 a.m. A business reported their Valero card used in the Dallas area for large amounts of fuel without their permission. Detectives went to the Valero to check the pumps for skimmers and found that the Department of Agriculture had just been there and inspected the pumps and found nothing wrong or suspicious with them.
11:08 a.m. A suspicious person was reported sitting in a vehicle at Peterson Park. An officer checked on the man and found that he was using WIFI and checking emails.
3:21 p.m. A welfare concern was reported for a man who left a job site on North Newsom Street. An officer was able to find the vehicle and witnessed no signs of intoxication with the driver.
8:56 p.m. A woman requested assistance with checking the mailbox where she had just moved from on Goodson Circle to see if a package she had delivered was in the mailbox because it showed delivered to that address. An officer checked the mailbox for her and found the package that was delivered.
10:27 p.m. An officer was patrolling North Newsom Street when he came upon a woman sitting on the curb in the rain, emotionally distraught, and appeared confused. The officer was not able to determine exactly what had taken place, other than she possibly fell. The woman was having problems remembering what took place other than her vehicle broke down at Brookshire’s parking lot and she was attempting to walk to her daughter’s residence not too far away. The woman did have an injury to her knee. She was transported by EMS to UT Health in Quitman. The woman’s vehicle was located in the Brookshire’s parking lot.
January 21
12:57 p.m. An officer assisted the fire department and EMS with CPR on an unresponsive 45-year-old female at a residence on Turman Street. The woman was pronounced deceased at UT Health in Quitman by Justice of the Peace Pct. 3, Jerry Parker. An autopsy was ordered by Judge Parker.
12:57 p.m. A woman reported her Valero credit card had been used without her permission in the Dallas area for a large amount of fuel. This is under investigation.
2:09 p.m. Officers assisted with a welfare concern from Wood County by looking for an elderly man that was driving through town headed toward Fruitvale. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
3:04 p.m. A woman spoke with an officer about getting someone living with her out of her residence. The officer advised the resident on West Blair an eviction notice would have to be filed with the Justice of the Peace.
5:24 p.m. A burn ban violation was reported on English Street. An officer responded and had the resident put the fire out.
January 20
1:21 a.m. A reckless driver was reported eastbound on Broad Street failing to maintain a single lane of traffic and driving at a high rate of speed. An officer was able to get the vehicle stopped in the 1000 block of East Broad Street. The driver, Angel Lee Gonzales, 28, of Findlay, Ohio, failed to identify himself to the officer and was placed under arrest. The passenger, Christopher Michael Ortega, 35, of Quitman was arrested for public intoxication.
1:22 p.m. Walmart reported a female in the store who had previously been trespassed. An officer responded and located the female and verified that she had been trespassed before. Alissa Dawn Trotta, 22, of Mineola was arrested for criminal trespass.
4:33 p.m. A resident reported the neighbor blocking his driveway with a trailer on Wren Street. The vehicle was already gone upon the officer’s arrival.
6:04 p.m. A traffic stop on North Pacific for a traffic violation led to the driver arrested for warrants out of Dallas County. Bobby James Bleeker, 42, of Dallas was arrested for four forgery warrants.
January 19
6:38 a.m. Mark Alan Zaloga, 32, of Alba was arrested for violation of a protective order. Zaloga was stopped by an officer for speeding on South Pacific Street. During the stop the officer determined Zaloga had an active protective order and the passenger was the named protected person in the order.
2:54 p.m. A disturbance was reported at a convenience store on South Pacific. A man reported another man had threatened to pour hot coffee on his daughter. By the time an officer arrived, all parties had already left.
7:15 p.m. A public assist was requested when a man was coming home from the hospital and needed to get into his residence on West Kilpatrick. The officer responded to the call to assist, but a friend was already there waiting.
January 18
5:36 a.m. EZ Mart reported they had a couple customers that stopped at the store because of something in the roadway at Pacific and Broad that made their tire blow out. An officer responded to the area and found a piece of metal and removed it from the roadway.
10:19 a.m. A North Newsom resident reported cash missing from his residence. This is under investigation.
12:05 p.m. A theft was reported when a woman said she accidentally left her boyfriend’s wallet in a shopping cart, or dropped it in the parking lot at Walmart. Surveillance cameras shows a person picking up the wallet. This is under investigation.
2:16 p.m. A reckless driver was reported on 37 South northbound into the city. The vehicle pulled into Walmart and parked.
January 17
11:38 a.m. A hit and run was reported in the parking lot of Walmart. After an investigation, the suspect vehicle was located and the victim was given the insurance information of the other driver. This case is still under investigation for duty upon striking the vehicle.
2:05 p.m. Debit card abuse was reported by a resident at the nursing home that just moved from a Grand Saline nursing home. The debit card abuse is under investigation. The suspect has been identified and determined the abuse did occur while the resident was in Grand Saline. The case is still under investigation with pending warrants.
2:28 p.m. A woman requested a welfare concern on a resident on North Pacific. Officers checked on the resident and everything was fine.
3:41 p.m. A welfare concern was reported in reference to a possible intoxicated driver that left in a vehicle on North Pacific. Officers patrolled the area, but was unable to locate the vehicle.
4:31 p.m. A business off East Broad Street asked for extra patrol because of fear of retaliation from a terminated employee. A directed patrol was initiated.
7:18 p.m. Rene Gilberto Cuevas, 59, of Mineola was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Cuevas was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation on South Pacific Street.
10:23 p.m. An officer assisted the Constable Pct. 2 on a traffic stop on West Patten.
10:38 p.m. Wood County requested assistance on a vehicle located in the middle of the intersection of Hwy 49 and Loop 564, unoccupied and smoking. A wrecker service was contacted to get the vehicle out of the roadway.
