May 30

7:33 a.m. A criminal trespass warning was issued for a female to keep her from going to a convenience store on East Broad Street.

2:38 p.m. A resident on West Kilpatrick turned in a check that was a scam. When she called a number, the scammer wanted her to deposit the check into her account and send the scammer some money back.

4:04 p.m. Officers responded to a death investigation on Brenda Lane. A 48-year-old female was pronounced deceased by Justice of Peace Janae Holland. No autopsy was ordered because the cause of death was believed to be natural causes.

5:26 p.m. An owner of property on Graham Street observed two teenagers walking onto the property as they pulled up. A female juvenile was transported to her residence on Wigley Street and turned over to her mother.

6:10 p.m. David Ray Herring, 39, of Mineola turned himself in at the police department on a warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle warrant. Herring was found to be the suspect who allegedly stole a vehicle at the VFW. It was found close to his residence a couple hours after it was stolen.

6:24 p.m. A man got out of a vehicle to get a snow cone on West Broad Street and his dog accidentally locked the car doors. An officer unlocked the vehicle.

9:57 p.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on Wigley Street. The caller reported that his sister’s boyfriend pushed her down. Upon the officers’ arrival, it was determined that the boyfriend was trying to leave and he pushed her out of the way. No charges were filed. A family violence report was completed.

10:12 p.m. A restaurant on North Johnson Street reported that a couple came in with a child and seemed to be fine, but after going to the bathroom, they left and appeared to be stumbling around. An officer attempted to catch up to their vehicle but did not locate it.

May 31

7:24 a.m. An employee at a convenience store on East Broad Street requested an officer. Two individuals were trespassed from the store.

8:38 a.m. A resident on West McDonald Street reported someone stealing gas from their vehicle.

9:38 a.m. A possible sexual assault of a 4-year-old child was reported. This is under investigation.

11:29 a.m. A theft was reported by a convenience store on South Pacific Street. The woman captured on video is known to police. A citation for the theft was written.

1:31 p.m. A man went to a residence on Minwood Street trying to repair a driveway. The resident felt like it was a scam. When the officer arrived, the man gave a false name. A warrant will be issued because the officer did not determine the name was wrong until after the man left.

4:17 p.m. An officer assisted a man at a business on East Broad Street when he was trying to capture bees from the building. The man needed a longer ladder. Public works was contacted to help.

7:23 p.m. A business on East Broad Street reported a suspicious vehicle outside the business when the employees were attempting to leave. An officer responded and had the driver of the vehicle leave the property.

9:21 p.m. An officer was flagged down by a man that reported people running out in front of a vehicle on Hwy. 80 West between Mineola and Grand Saline. Van Zandt and Smith County were notified.

June 1

9:27 a.m. EMS requested assistance in the Walmart parking lot until they could arrive in reference to a 5-month-old child who was unresponsive. The family with the baby drove on to the ER in Quitman before an officer or EMS arrived.

9:47 a.m. A hotline reported a woman that reportedly overdosed at a residence. An officer responded with EMS. The woman willingly went to the hospital with EMS.

2:25 p.m. A sexual assault was reported by the family of a 14-year-old female. This is under investigation.

2:34 p.m. A store on East Broad Street reported a man who kept coming in trying to use different debit cards. He was reportedly wearing a handcuff on one hand. The man was not there when the officer arrived, and he had not been identified as of June 1.

June 2

12:01 a.m. Cheryl Denise Hunt, 44, of Mineola was arrested at a business on North Pacific Street when an officer observed her and knew she had outstanding warrants. She was arrested for traffic warrants out of Wood County.

June 3

12:37 a.m. The owner of the Mineola Motor Lodge reported that a man at the property refused to leave. An officer responded to the location and asked the man to leave. When the officer started to leave the man came back. Felipe Aranda Silva, 49, of Grand Saline was arrested for criminal trespass.

1:15 p.m. A baby was reportedly locked in a vehicle at a business on North Newsom Street. The Mineola Fire Department opened the vehicle door.

2:18 p.m. A dog bite occurred on Circle Drive. A man was reportedly at a residence to work and the owner’s dog bit him. The man went to the Urgent Care and was released with a minor injury to the back of his leg. The dog was being quarantined at the animal clinic for 10 days.

5:19 p.m. Officers assisted on a medical call on West Kilpatrick Street. The woman was transported by EMS to UT Health in Quitman by EMS.

7:13 p.m. A woman reported harassment when the landlord kept knocking on the door at a residence on North Pacific Street. The woman was told the incident is a civil matter between her and the landlord regarding an eviction notice. About an hour later, the same resident reported her landlord was at the residence banging on the door. An officer responded and spoke to both parties. Both parties were advised to contact the JP Court.

June 4

2:55 a.m. An officer observed two juveniles skateboarding at the parking lot of Christus Trinity Clinic. The juveniles were transported to their residence and their parents were notified.

3:43 a.m. An officer spoke with several subjects outside a convenience store on South Pacific Street. They wanted to report a vehicle that stopped in front of their vehicle on Hwy. 69 north of Lindale. The driver got out and assaulted the driver of their vehicle. This was determined to have happened in Smith County and they were advised to report the incident to Smith County.

2:46 p.m. A death investigation was conducted at a residence on NE Loop 564. A 63-year-old man was found deceased in the home by his family. Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Janae Holland pronounced the man deceased and ordered an autopsy.

4:45 p.m. A woman reported debit card abuse when she found that someone had used her debit card at a restaurant in Dallas.

6:33 p.m. A welfare concern was reported when a resident observed a man on top of a vehicle beating on the hood at Meadowbrook and Brenda Lane. Officers responded to Brenda Lane and found the two that were in a verbal argument and the girlfriend was attempting to leave. The male was trying to keep her from leaving.

June 5

12:53 a.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on University Street. When the officers arrived the female reported that her husband was being abusive with her son. While conducting an investigation, it was determined that the husband was assaulted by his wife. The husband did not wish to pursue charges. A family violence report was completed.

11:17 a.m. A criminal mischief and trespassing was reported at a building on South Line Street. When officers arrived and conducted an investigation, it appeared the door had been open for a long period of time and was in bad condition. Nothing was found to be missing from the building.

4:38 p.m. A shooting was reported at a residence on Robin Street. Officers and investigators arrived and found a 21-year-old female with a gunshot wound to her shoulder. It was determined that the gunshot was self-inflicted. The female was transported to a Tyler hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
