Mineola P&Z OKs permits

A pair of special use permits met the approval of the Mineola Planning and Zoning Commission Monday.

Those recommendations will go to the city council for final approval Aug. 28.

One, for a manufactured home, was approved despite the home already being moved onto the property.

Fire marshal and planning director David Madsen said once the home was discovered, all work was stopped until the proper procedures could be followed.

It will be located at Padgett and South Streets.

Procedures include anchoring, underpinning and licensed electrical and plumbing work.

Madsen noted there is a steep drop off at the back of the property which will need to be addressed.

Letters to adjoining property owners resulted in no responses.

A permit for an automotive repair shop was also granted for 414 S. Pacific St., which was the site of a previously unpermitted tire shop.

The new occupants also plan a tire shop.

Madsen explained there is not a zoning category for tire shops but they fall under automotive repair.

There were also no responses to notices sent to adjoining property owners.
