Mineola’s holiday spirit will shine on Saturday
Downtown Mineola celebrates the Christmas season Saturday with an afternoon offering of music and carriage rides and, as night falls, the city’s annual Christmas parade promises to brighten the holiday season.
From 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., enjoy the music of Raphael Espinoza and his band at the Gazebo near the train depot in downtown Mineola. From 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., folks can participate in free horse-drawn carriage rides.
As darkness descends, Mineola’s Chamber of Commerce will stage its annual Christmas parade. The theme of this year’s parade is Christmas Around the World. The procession is expected to feature the Mineola High School Marching Band, floats, costumes, horses, and Santa and Mrs. Clause. The merry couple will arrive at the end of the parade aboard a fire truck. Later, they will be at the Gazebo for the annual tree lighting and for pictures with children.
