OHI, the national trade association representing the voice of the outdoor hospitality industry, has announced the results of its board of directors election and its next chair, Joe Moore, a long-time Wood County resident.

“I feel very honored to represent OHI as chair and look forward to bringing value to our members,” says Moore. “We have a great board of directors and an awesome full-time staff helping to lead us through some of the most dynamic times in the outdoor hospitality industry.”

The board election took place leading up to OHI’s 2023 Outdoor Hospitality Conference and Expo, (OHCE) Nov. 5-9 in Kansas City, Mo., and newly-elected board members were announced and sworn in at the annual Membership Meeting on Nov. 9.

Moore was elected to a one-year term through November 2024. He will be eligible to run for a second term from 2024-25.

“During my tenure I hope to continue OHI’s broad spectrum advocacy at the state and national levels, promote OHI’s cost saving benefits program, encourage education at the George O’Leary School of Outdoor Hospitality and promote the value of OHI membership,” says Moore.

As chair, Moore will lead the OHI Board of Directors, which consists of 20 voting members of the trade association from across the country who represent various aspects of the outdoor hospitality industry. He will also lead the board’s executive committee.

Moore has been active in OHI almost 20 years.

“I discovered the National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC) in 2004 when I was put in charge of managing The Vineyards Campground & Cabins in Grapevine,” he said.

He found out about ARVC’s Campground Management School and attended the three-year educational program, receiving a Certified Park Operators certificate.

Moore joined the Texas Association of Campground Owners board in 2006 for a 5-year term, then was drafted to fill an unexpired term on the OHI (ARVC) board in 2016 and has stayed on the board since.

He was the Supplier Council Representative for five years, while holding the position of chair of the Membership & Marketing Committee, then elected as Executive Committee Secretary for two years, and now chairman.

The ARVC rebranded at this past conference to OHI, Outdoor Hospitality Industry.
