Pesticide conference planned in Quitman

The annual Tri-County Pesticide Conference will be held on Friday, Oct. 27 at the Carroll Green Civic Center in Quitman.

Topics covered include Reading and Understanding the Pesticide Label, Unwanted Pest/Predator Control in Pastures and Hay Meadows, IPM Strategies for Controlling Insects in Forage Systems, IPM Research Demonstrations and Results from the East Texas Region, and Aquatic Weed ID and Control with five continuing education units available.

The cost for this program is $35 and includes lunch. Pre-register by Oct 13 to Wood County AgriLife Extension Office to guarantee lunch.

On the same day, a Private Applicator Training will be held for those individuals in need of their Private Applicator License.

Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. and the training will run from 9 a.m.- noon.

Registration is $10 at the door. Attendees must purchase a current Study Guide ($40) and the Laws and Regulations book ($15) ahead of time from the local County Extension Office.
