Phillip Michael ‘Mike’ Waldrup, 1947-2019

A memorial service for Phillip Michael “Mike” Waldrup, 71, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6 at Rose Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1420 CR 2460 in Mineola. Glen Mize will officiate.

Mr. Waldrup died March 9, 2019, in Sugar Land. He was born in Jacksonville, Texas, on Aug. 29, 1947.

In 1971, Mr. Waldrup graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station and served the next three years in the United States Army. He married Kathleen Alice Bailes in 1978. He worked as a law enforcement officer for three years with the San Marcos Police Department and over 23 years with the Texas Department of Public Safety, where he worked highway patrol, narcotics, and criminal intelligence. He loved researching equine bloodlines, breeding, raising, and showing American Quarter Horses.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall L.Waldrup and Yvonne Johnson Waldrup. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Bailes Waldrup; son, Christopher Alan Waldrup; daughter, Alicia Rose Waldrup; sister, Karen Waldrup Roper; and three grandchildren.
