Pilot Club honors students’ veteran works
One of the longest running projects for the Pilot Club of Mineola is their veteran’s dinner and patriotic contest. Veterans attending the dinner were honored by President Diane Holmes.
Students from Mineola Elementary School were presented awards by Pilot Christine Spofford. Third graders winning for their posters were Eason Hooton, first place; Odessi Hernandez, 2nd; and John Moreland, 3rd.
Fourth grade prose winners were Kanyon Worsham, 1st and Ronald Good’Iron, 2nd.
Winners for their poetry in fifth grade were Bentley Best, 1st place; Macy Lisenbe, 2nd and Gio Mata Romero, 3rd.
Fifth grader Kimberly Santos was the overall winner. Kimberly read her poem during the MHS Veterans assembly. Honorable mention went to fifth grader Penelope Barrera.
