I continue to work with the school district and build strong relationships with the kids and young adults in order to attempt to mentor them and provide some guidance where necessary. I have been asked to conduct training on several campuses in order to better prepare the teachers to protect their students. We have been conducting presentations and searches at schools across the county and had positive feedback from the school districts. The bus routes are being monitored with the busses to make sure that the kids getting on and off the busses are safe. Citations are being issued to those that choose to disregard the school bus stop signs.
The Explorer Program is well under way and we are finalizing the adult training that each leader has to complete. We are in the process of finalizing agreements with Mineola PD, and Quitman PD to allow the Explorers to participate in community projects and ride along activities. Our first meeting will be held at the Armed Texans Training Facility in Mineola where there is ample classroom space and training space available. This month we finalized some procedures and will be discussing them with other local police chiefs.
