The Winnsboro Autumn Trails events have kicked off and there are three more weekends of exciting and enjoyable activities.

This Saturday is being dubbed “Super Saturday” by the Autumn Trails Association. There are four distinct events planned for the day. The epicenter is the Arts and Crafts festival located in downtown off Elm and Market Streets. Setup begins at 7 a.m. and vendors are asked to be ready at 8 a.m.

The Wellness Coalition is presenting Autumn Trails Go! Find, a scavenger hunt through downtown Winnsboro. Sign-up is at 8:30 a.m. and the hunt is 9-10 a.m. Prizes are awarded to first, second and third place.

A pet-show is being hosted in the First National Bank parking lot. A training demonstration is at 10:30 a.m. featuring two-time Texas State Frisbee Champion “Z” and his trainer Bill McFarlin. The contest begins at 11 a.m. and prizes are awarded for Best Dressed and Best Trick. All pets are welcomed.

The most intense action of the day might possibly be the Chili Cook-off hosted by the Gus Garrison Masonic Lodge at the First Baptist Church 3D Building. The entry fee is $40 and setup begins at 7 a.m. with cooking taking place between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. There is $850 in prizes being awarded at 1:30 p.m. for Best Table Setup and Peoples’ Choice.

The Trail Ride Weekend is being held Oct. 14-16. The trail ride parade is Friday at 4 p.m. beginning at the water tower. Trail rides begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The Taste of Winnsboro Pie Contest is Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Winnsboro City Park. The contest pies must be delivered by 11 a.m. with judging beginning at 11:30 a.m. The three categories of judging are fruit, nut and cream pies. All contestants will furnish two pies for each category, one pie for judging and one to be sold. Contestants are asked to use disposable pans only. Ribbons will be awarded to first, second and third place in each category along with a Grand Prize Trophy.

There will also be stew, chili and gumbo available and prepared by Autumn Trails board members and friends.

The last weekend of activities, Oct. 20-22, is reserved for Old Car Weekend that includes a swap meet, parade and classic car show. Setup for the swap meet is Thursday, Oct. 20, with the meet held Friday, Oct. 21, at the Winnsboro City Park.

The parade line-up is at the railroad tracks on Highway 11 and leaves the staging area at 10 a.m. with a downtown arrival time of 10:30 a.m. The Classic Car Show is held following the parade at the Jack Cross Pavilion. The Car Run is at 1:30 p.m. with a $20 entry fee. Plaques are awarded to first, second and third place.
