Quitman FFA dominates at Houston Livestock Show


Several Quitman FFA students came back from the Houston Livestock Show in March with multiple plaques and blue ribbons.

Kathryn Hudman earned first in class for the Santa Gertrudis breed.

Marcus Pollard came in eighth in class for Beefmaster breed.

Dawson Chaney showed in Beefmaster heifer and Silvano Castillo showed in other register breed (ORB).

For the Limousin breed, Brenley von Reyn came in fourth in class and Jentri Jackson came in fifth in class.

Avery von Reyn placed sixth in class for the Polled Hereford breed.

Hunter Hart placed eighth in class for the Chianina breed. Isabelle Hart showed in the Chianina breed.

Kori Hammond placed seventh in class for the Angus breed.

The three ag mechanics projects each received blue ribbons.

Julia Simpkins earned a ribbon for her project.

Pollard and Jordyn Blalock earned a ribbon for their project.

Wyatt McClanahan, Cole Richey and Hudman earned a ribbon as well.

Jackson and Brenley von Reyn each won scholarships from the Fort Worth Rodeo Scramble.

Brenley won $10,000 and Jackson won $3,000.
