Quitman HC set this Friday
Quitman ISD will celebrate its 2018 homecoming on Oct. 5 with a parade and more. Students will choose from the following seniors for 2018 Homecoming Queen. Those nominated for queen are Utopia Henry, Lilie Dannon, Mikayla Hubbard, Jakelin Silva and Destiny Mcgee. Seeking to be king are David Tarno, Gavin Derryberry, Jacob Day, Jeremy Peek and Josh Medlin.
Representing their respective classes as Duchesses and Dukes are juniors Whitnee Weiher andNick Barnett; sophomores Cristina Ramirez and Silvano Castillo; and freshmen Brooklyn Marcee and Wyatt Hightower.
The Bulldogs will kick-off against Grand Saline at 7:30 p.m. with the Homecoming ceremony at 7 p.m.
Following with tradition, the bonfire will be on Wednesday, Oct. 3 in the field next to the Ballard Gym, Quitman High School Principal Dana Hamrick said. Hamrick said they typically begin the fire at 8 p.m. each year.
The annual downtown parade will start at 2 p.m. on Friday beginning at the high school and ending at the Wood County courthouse with a pep rally on the north side of the square.
“Anyone that would like to be in the parade can call up the front office of the high school before Thursday, Oct. 4,” Quitman High School student council adviser Shelley Chance said. “We are really hoping to get some classic cars in the parade.”
