The Quitman High School homecoming court includes, standing from left, freshmen Ben Boisclair and Kaylin Sapp, sophomores Preston Flores and Alexis Frazier, juniors Armando Olvera and Marcela Flores; and seated, seniors Kallie Hoover, Dakota Jimenez, Hannah Holland, Michael Pickering, Abby Day, Carlos Flores, Kennedi Elmore, Jaxon Wilson, Addison Marcee and Carter Smith. The parade will step off at 2 p.m. Friday, and the court will be honored in pre-game ceremonies at 7 p.m. at Bud Moody Field, followed by the Bulldogs’ game against Ore City.

Special Olympics returns in style

After a five-year absence, over 150 athletes from Como-Pickton, Cedar Creek and Upshur and Wood Counties competed for special recognition at a state-sanctioned Special Olympics track and field meet at the Quitman High School track field on Friday, April 5.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
