Quitman hospital earns high rating
UT Health Quitman received the top grade for quality according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, putting it in the top 15% of hospitals in the nation ranked by CMS for quality.
Of the more than 3,075 hospitals nationwide that received ratings as part of the assessment, UT Health Quitman was one of 483 hospitals to receive the highest rating – five stars.
“It is an honor to earn five-star recognition, and it is proof of our dedication, hard work and commitment to delivering quality care to the residents of Wood County by our great staff, providers and leaders,” said UT Health Quitman CEO Jared Smith.
The overall star ratings are based on 46 quality measures across five areas – safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates and timely and effective care – which are summarized into a single star rating for each hospital.
UT Health Quitman also was recognized among the most socially responsible hospitals in the U.S. by the Lown Hospitals Index, which measures social responsibility as a composite of performance on equity, value and outcomes. UT Health Quitman was ranked 22 on the list of 54 hospitals (out of over 3,600) to receive straight “A” grades in all three of these categories, giving these hospitals the highest rankings in overall social responsibility.
