Quitman Library Connections
Quitman Public Library joins libraries across the country to remind parents that the most important school supply of all is a library card. Patron cards are available for those residents who can provide proof of residence in Wood County and photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.
With school starting back, home school instructors as well as public school teachers are encouraged to download the OverDrive® app to connect to our library’s vast collection of eBooks, audio books and streaming video. Many new e-books aimed for elementary-aged children are available online by visiting the library’s home page. These virtual books are narrated in several languages. Also, the online TexShare Database is loaded with invaluable and up-to-the-minute research tools and reference resources. Visit the library’s website at www.quitmanlibrary.org.
Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2-4 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for free instruction.
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society is always ready to assist you with family history research. Call 903-763-4191 to schedule an appointment or contact a member through the society’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.
The library is operating in accordance with current state guidelines with regular hours of Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to wear protective masks and allow others plenty of personal space. All patron areas are regularly disinfected with industrial grade sanitizer.
