Quitman man dies in crash

A Quitman man was killed in a one-vehicle traffic crash Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 14.

Michael Baines, 48, died when his vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times on FM 69 about 3.9 miles north of Quitman.

The preliminary Dept. of Public Safety report indicates Baines was southbound on FM 69 at 1:25 p.m. in a 2004 Ford Explorer and entered a side skid while exiting a curve to the right. The vehicle left the east side of the road and rolled. The weather was clear and the road was wet.

He was transported to UT Health East Texas in Quitman where he was pronounced dead.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert
