The Quitman Police Dept. answered 369 calls for service in June, issued 100 traffic citations and 107 traffic warnings,  one criminal trespass warning and took 17 reports. The department served three arrest warrants and made three on-site arrests. 

June 4

Officer Joseph Gatewood and Officer Victor Taylor initiated a traffic stop in the 600 block of E. Goode St. after observing a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Officers could smell the strong odor of marijuana. Passenger, Asher Arispe was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in PG 2 under 1 gram.

June 9

Officer Jesus Sandoval and Lt. Scott Gallimore met with a complainant at the police department. While getting statements from the victim and a witness, officers realized that the witness Sherrie Lewelling had an outstanding city warrant for a dog running at large. She was arrested.

Officer Sandoval and Lt. Gallimore learned the location of another person with city warrants and arrested James Wall for two warrants in the 600 block of E. Goode St. for speeding 10% or more and for possession or delivery of drug paraphernalia.

 June 23

Officer Sandoval and Lt. Gallimore made a traffic stop at the corner of Horton and Goldsmith.Darrell Doggett was arrested for driving while license invalid without financial responsibility and for failure to maintain financial responsibility with a previous conviction.
