Quitman Young Farmers make donations

Quitman Young Farmers and the Quitman FFA work together each year to give to other organizations through projects including the Quitman Christmas Sharing and Caring Plus along with The Rainbow Room.

Quitman Christmas Sharing and Caring Plus works year-round to provide Christmas food and many other items to make sure those in need during the holidays are not forgotten or left behind. The sharing and caring program helps feed hundreds of Wood County residents each year. Volunteers from throughout the school district and the local community work together in an effort to make the holidays brighter for those in need each holiday season.

The Rainbow Room is a special place for Wood County foster children and children and families in need. The Rainbow Room is located in Quitman and has from clothing to school supplies for children taken from circumstances beyond their control.

Quitman FFA and Young Farmers work together each year and donate part of their annual auction proceeds to worthy causes.

This past year the Young Farmers and FFA were able to contribute the following: Quitman Sharing and Caring Plus, $1,000; Christmas Sharing Food Pantry, $1,000; Rainbow Room, $500; Wood County child Welfare, $500; Cancer Survivor, $500; Texas FFA Foundation, $250; Nicky Wheeler Scholarship Endowment Fund, $250. The total the two groups were able to donate was $4,000.
