With much fanfare and hoopla, the Mineola ISD Education Foundation handed out 39 teacher classroom grants totaling almost $83,000 Friday in the halls fo the district’s four campuses.

The foundation presents awards each spring after holding fundraising efforts throughout the year to help teachers add a little luster to their classrooms.

The grants awarded are as follows listed by item to be purchased, teacher and/or team applying, amount and brief description:

Numworks Calculators, Julie Chappa & HS Math Team, $1822, Class set of calculators for high school math

 4th and 5th Grade Career CTE Library, Wendell Benningfield/4th and 5th Grade CTE Partners, $1500, Books expanding student CTE library to learn about CTE careers

4th and 5th Grade STEMready AI, IT Robotic Engineering, Wendell Benningfield & Meghan Dobbs, $3000, Vex Lego Robotic and Engineering tools/supplies

4th and 5th Horticulture Greenhouse & Garden Program, Wendell Benningfield/4th and 5th Grade Teams, $1500, Raised beds and garden supplies

Number Navigators, Lori Casper, 209.49, Calculators, clocks, and other tools to enhance math instruction at middle school

Apple TV for New Primary Classrooms, Kaye Morris/Joseph Armstrong & Primary Campus, $5960, 40 Apple TVs compatible with teacher laptops – 1 for each new primary school classroom

Food Science – Using Food to Teach Science Topics, Norvella Anderson & High School Science Team, $6000, Cooking station equipment for new 4th year science course at high school

JBL Party Box Plus, Haley Stanley, $1399, Bluetooth speaker and microphones for P.E., athletics and assemblies at middle school

4th and 5th Grade Language Translator Program, Wendell Benningfield & Elementary Campus, $3600, 10 sets of earbud translators to be used by students, teachers, and parents

Indoor Gross Motor Toys, Kelsey Young, $1500, Indoor Gross motor equipment for new primary campus

8-Note Resonator Bell Sets, Melissa Snook, $1078, Musical Instruments for primary school music classes

Financial Math Games, Amanda Harris, $430, Games for financial math application at high school

I-Pad and Apple Pen, Sara Rose, $928, I-Pad and pen paired with Smart board for literacy/comprehension from types of text materials for high school English

Book of the Month, Kristina Salonen & Primary Campus, $3776, Additional books to add to the series funded last year for all regular primary school classrooms

Hands On Phonics Fun, Kristina Salonen & Primary Campus, $2889, Hands-on manipulatives for phonics instruction

Literacy Library for Dyslexic Students and Parents, Stephanie Griffin, $350, Books to build literacy, fluency and comprehension for dyslexic students at elementary school and informational books for parents of dyslexic students

ESL Translators, Cassie White & 6th Grade Team, $3599, 10 sets of headphone translators to be used by students, teachers and parents

Saw Stop, Ricky Ramirez/CTE Construction, $2498, Safety saw for CTE construction courses at high school.

Last year the foundation handed out $75,000.
