The Quitman Bulldogs boys varsity track team comfortably walked away with the Mineola Yellowjacket Relays last Friday, March 1. The Bulldogs were buoyed by their relay teams who took the blue ribbon in the 4 x 100-meter and 4 x 400-meter relays, and second place in the 4 x 200-meter relay.

Additional first-place finishes by Quitman athletes were Carter Smith 400-meter  dash (52.77), Bryson Hobbs 110-meter  hurdles (16.86), and Dakota Jimenez 800-meter  run (2:02.25).

Mineola’s other scorers were all second-place finishes. They were Braydon Alley in the 100-meter dash, Caden Beck long jump, Trey Rushing discus and Chance Williams pole vault.

The Canton Eaglettes secured the girls varsity division with Mineola finishing second and Quitman seventh.

First place finishers for the Lady Jackets were Raylie Peebles 800-meter run (2:23.75); Jaylee Nevarez, Clara Marlow, Olivia Hughes, and Abbie Dobbs in the 4 x 200-meter relay (1:52.71); and Peebles, Hughes, Caroline Castleberry and Carmen Carrasco in the 4 x 400-meter relay (4:12.37).
