Robert Dee Cain passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 7, 2023.

Bob was born Aug. 19, 1944 in Longview to Henry Frank Cain and Dorothy Harper Cain. Bob graduated from Quitman High School in 1962 and attended Tyler Junior College for two years. He married his high school sweetheart, Lillie Yvonne Newsom, in the summer of 1964 and resided in Fort Worth.

During their time in Fort Worth, Bob enjoyed playing on the city league slow-pitch softball team for 10 years on the weekends. In 1967 they welcomed their daughter, Candi.

In 1978 they moved back home and opened the Sport Shack/Radio Shack of Quitman, where they served their community for 35 years before retiring. During this time, Bob was heavily involved in the Quitman Youth Foundation, where he served on the board and as president for many years. He and his good friend, Reneau Anders, were instrumental in starting Little Dribblers for girls. And as a softball coach, he did everything he could to help the league succeed, from prepping the field for play after a night of rain to umpiring games. They worshiped with their family at the Winnsboro Church of Christ.

Bob was proud to serve as a volunteer firefighter in Quitman from 1979 to 1994 before having to retire for medical reasons. Bob was also a member of Quitman Flora Lodge #119 and was master of the lodge in 2000. He served on the Chamber of Commerce board and was named Quitman “Man of the Year” in 1994.

Bob’s most special time was spent with his grandchildren and is known as Papa. His favorite activities were attending all of their activities. It was rare that he missed a single game, play, cheerleading competition, award ceremony and the list goes on! He was known as being great at coaching from the stands! He was fortunate enough to enjoy and love five great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dorothy Cain; his brother, Charles Cain; and sister-in-law, Anne Cain.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Cain; his daughter, Candi Langhoff and husband Robert Langhoff; his grandchildren, Alex and Jaxon Bailey, Amber and Kade Cox, and Camri and Cain Langhoff; his great-grandchildren, Joleigh Cox, Gia Cox, Luke Bailey, Lily Bailey and Judson Langhoff; his brothers, Larry and wife Tommie Cain, Scooter Cain; and sister-in-law, Nancy Cain.

Pallbearers are Robert Langhoff, Cain Langhoff, Jaxon Bailey, Kade Cox, Aldine Riley and Lynn Bettis. Honorary pallbearers are DR Reynolds and Bob Main.
