The Mineola High School band performed at UIL Concert & Sight-reading Contest on March 6 at White Oak High School.

The band received 1st Division ratings from all six judges.

This is the seventh year in a row that the band has received these ratings and the UIL Sweepstakes Award.

The UIL Sweepstakes Award is achieved by a band receiving a 1st Division in all three areas which include marching, concert and sight-reading.  Prior to the Mineola Band’s  7-year streak, Mineola had not received a sweepstakes since 1995.

The band performed three musical selections at the UIL contest which included “The Attorney General March,” “Khan” and “Viva.”

Chris Brannan is the director of the band and assistant directors are Heather Chitty, Dago Gonzalez and Austin Brannon.

Brannan stated he was very proud of the band and their performance at UIL.

“Our students achieve a high level of success and are very motivated to be successful at everything they do!” he said.
