Students, staff recognized by MISD board
Mineola School Board recognized students and staff at last Monday’s meeting.
The students of the month were pre-kindergarten students Aaron Rubio and Mary Williams from the primary school, third graders Charlee Watkins and Jackson Wilson of the elementary school, 8th graders Aron Palacios and Jasmin Duran of the middle school and juniors Noah Turner and Audria Bynum of the high school.
Team member of the month was Roberta Rose, attendance clerk at the high school, and support staff of the month was custodian Lorie Bates.
The high school band received recognition as the state honor band and the silver medalist in the state marching competition.
Drum majors Marianna Delgadillo and Jada Woodward presented medals to the board.
Band Director Jim Best said the students are the best in the state and are defined by their personal integrity, not their medals.
He related an email from a couple staying in the same hotel as the band in San Antonio, who were concerned when first seeing the buses lined up but were impressed by the students’ behavior.
