Farmers markets

Mineola farmers market is Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the transportation pavilion adjacent to the downtown train depot.

Quitman farmers market is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at Jim Hogg City Park.

Car show

Lake Country Classics Car Club’s Classics and Coffee is Saturday, June 20 from 8-10 a.m. on the north side of the courthouse square in Quitman.

Junk in the trunk

Mineola Civic Center & RV Park will host its popular Junk in the Trunk sale Saturday, June 20. There is no admission fee for shoppers.

The event begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. Seller check-in begins between 7:30 and 8:45 a.m. at the 1150 N. Newsom Street entry.

Special Olympics returns in style

After a five-year absence, over 150 athletes from Como-Pickton, Cedar Creek and Upshur and Wood Counties competed for special recognition at a state-sanctioned Special Olympics track and field meet at the Quitman High School track field on Friday, April 5.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
