A flurry of offensive activity in the final five minutes of the second quarter saw the Tigers take command with three scores for a 34-0 advantage at intermission. Troup scored three more times in the second half to take home a 53-0 road win at Quitman’s Bud Moody field.
The Tigers used a balanced offense and tough defense to frustrate the Bulldogs the entire game. Leading 13-0 the Tigers took advantage of an interception at the Quitman 15-yard line and two plays later scored on a 12-yard run up the middle to go up 21-0 with 5:37 to go in the half.
Another interception gave the Tigers the ball at midfield and they scored again in two plays on a 47-yard pass play giving them a 27-0 edge with just over two minutes left until intermission. The Bulldogs drove into Tiger territory, but a Troup sack on fourth down gave them the ball on their own 38-yard line. With just four seconds to go in the half, Troup scored on their third time through the air, this time for 43 yards leaving the score 34-0 as the band marched to the field for the halftime show. Troup scored three more times, all on the ground, in the second half as the clock rolled through the final quarter ending in the 53-0 score.
