Two killed in head-on crash
A woman from Quitman and high school senior from Grand Saline were killed in a head-on crash Sunday, March 26 on FM 779.
According to the Dept. of Pubic Safety preliminary report, Frances H. Williams, 69, was traveling east in a 2017 Ford Fusion on FM 779 at 6:15 p.m. four miles southwest of Quitman.
Micayla R. Kolb, 17, of Alba was traveling west on 779 in a 1996 Ford Bronco and traveled into the oncoming lane.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Jerry Parker.
Kolb was transported to UT Health Hospital in Quitman and died from her injuries the following day.
Her service is at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lowe-Garden Funerals and Cremations in Quitman, followed by burial at Salem Cemetery in Alba.
