The A.D. Francis Endowment Fund awarded $3,500 to Morgan’s Mercy Mansion, a faith-based rehabilitation center for women, and $1,500 to Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center serving children that are victims of physical or sexual abuse in Wood County. Both organizations are based in Winnsboro.

“The committee was very impressed with the projects presented by our area nonprofits,” said Carolyn Jones, president of Winnsboro Communities Foundation. “We owe a debt of gratitude to Mrs. A.D. Francis for her forward thinking in establishing an endowment to benefit our local nonprofit organizations.”

The A.D. Francis Endowment Fund, held at East Texas Communities Foundation in partnership with the Winnsboro Community Foundation, awards grants in support of strong projects based on good ideas and compelling needs in the Winnsboro community. The purpose of the fund is to support and build the capacity of public charities. Funds may be used to develop new projects or enhance existing projects and programs already in place.

“We are pleased to carry out the legacy of Mrs. A.D. Francis by assisting WCF with the distribution of the funds,” said Kyle Penney, president of East Texas Communities Foundation. “Both of the charities selected are serving a great need in the Winnsboro area.”
