Clark School Reunion this week
Former students of the W. B. Clark School will celebrate a milestone this weekend. The school doors were closed following the graduation ceremonies for the Class of 1965. These groups of former students are not only celebrating a 50-year anniversary, but are remembering the end of an era. The following year all W. B. Clark students were transferred to other schools such as Quitman, Como-Pickton and Winnsboro.
Former students will come together to remember a piece of history and simply celebrate June 20 at the Quitman First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 10 a.m.
The original school was named Deloney School. It burned down in 1944 and when it was rebuilt it was named W. B. Clark. Clark taught for 54 years, 37 of those years in Quitman and continued his education at Wylie College, Marshall, and Texas College, Tyler, before becoming an educator.
For information about the reunion, contact Pat Russell Durst at 903-850-2352.
