Winnsboro woman dies after being struck by car
Elizabeth R. Shelt, 87, of Winnsboro died from injuries suffered in an auto/pedestrian collision April 23 about eight miles north of Gilmer, the Department of Public Safety reported.
At 9:05 p.m., troopers responded to an auto/pedestrian crash on U.S. 271 north of Gilmer in Upshur County.
Preliminary crash investigation revealed that the driver of a 2014 Toyota Camry, Beverly Burns Sinclair, 74, of Pittsburg, was traveling north when her car collided with Shelt, who was crossing the roadway from west to east, according to the DPS. Shelt was taken to UT-Health–Pittsburg, where she later died, the DPS reported. The crash remained under investigation earlier this week.
