Deputy John Cooper was dispatched to PR 8566 for found property. An individual found a firearm while on his way to work. The firearm was logged into property.

April 9

Deputy Jonah Croney responded to CR 3420 for criminal mischief. The complainant advised someone had cut the power cord to a water pump on his property. Extra patrol will be provided.

Deputy Linda Williams met with a reporting party at the sheriff’s office lobby. The reporting party stated he was arrested in December and had asked his girlfriend to take his truck to a family member’s house.  When he got out of jail, his truck was not there. Criminal Investigations Division will be doing further investigation into the case.

April 10

Deputy Jaclyn Skinner conducted a traffic stop on FM 2088. The driver stated he may have an outstanding ticket out of another county. Skinner had the driver step out of the vehicle. She observed a bag with a brown substance inside. Jaeden Devin Whitworth, 22, of Winnsboro was arrested for outstanding warrants and possession of a controlled substance penalty group (PG) one less than one gram. 

Deputy David Tipps conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy. 69 N. The driver consented to a search of his vehicle. The driver then started yelling, telling the deputy he needed EMS, and EMS was dispatched.  Every time Tipps would attempt to search the vehicle, the driver would start yelling about a medical emergency. Methamphetamines were located in the vehicle. Joe Kenneth Musselwhite, 64, of Mineola was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG one, more than one gram but less than four grams. 

April 11

Deputy Andrew Rapp was dispatched to CR 6226 for an intoxicated subject. The reporting party stated a vehicle had driven off the roadway and was stuck on his property. The driver was intoxicated. Christian Kayne Bourquin, 19, of Canton was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI).

Deputy Croney responded to a report of found property on CR 1600. A red cargo trailer was abandoned on the reporting party’s property. The trailer was reported stolen out of Smith County, which was notified of the recovery.

Deputy Skinner conducted a traffic stop on Hwy. 154. The driver stated he did not know where his driver’s license was. After Skinner asked him to exit the vehicle, he attempted to retrieve something from his pocket. Skinner observed it to be a baggie with a clear crystal-like substance. The baggie had been ripped in two pieces by the individual. Skinner was informed by dispatch that he had out-of-county warrants. Joshua Jay Rollins, 30, of Longview was arrested for the out-of-county warrants, possession of a controlled substance PG one, less than one gram, and tamper/fabricate physical evidence.

April 12

Deputy Corbin Hanner was called to the sheriff’s office to speak with someone in regard to harassment.  The victim stated she has been receiving inappropriate messages and phone calls from an individual.  She stated she has blocked his number, but he continues to get new numbers and keeps attempting to make contact with her. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Brad Cox was dispatched to CR 2966 for shots fired. The reporting party stated they were in their residence when two bullets came through the wall. The bullets entered on either side of where the reporting party was sitting. They did not wish to press charges but have the incident documented.

Deputy Michael Allison responded to Hwy. 69 regarding a theft. The victim reported she had a vacant rent house. When she went to check on it, the exterior doors were open, and all the door knobs were missing. An air conditioner and vinyl floor covering was also missing. There was some damage to the property. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Hanner took a criminal mischief call on CR 2263. The reporting party stated his tire had been slashed. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Andrew Morrison responded to FM 515 for a disturbance. The reporting party stated her child’s father was at the location causing a disturbance. When Morrison arrived, he spoke to all parties. They each admitted that there was a verbal altercation but it was now settled. Morrison advised they needed to seek legal advice in regard to the child custody issues.

April 13

Sgt. Heather Bailey was dispatched to CR 4940 for a theft report. The victim reported a small building next to her residence was broken into. Numerous items were stolen. A report was forwarded to CID, and extra patrol will be provided for the area.

Deputy Cox was on patrol on Hwy. 37 N when he observed a female subject he knew to have outstanding warrants. As Cox exited his vehicle, the subject ran from him. He ran after the subject but was unable to locate her. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Sgt. Bailey responded to a theft report on PR 5551. The complainant reported several items stolen from his boat docked on Lake Fork. CID will be forwarded the case.

Deputy Cox took a call of suspicious circumstances on Hwy. 11. The victim stated her daughter was at the residence when she noticed the back door was open. When they went inside, they found evidence that someone had been squatting there. Extra patrol will be provided for this area.

Deputy Cooper was dispatched to CR 3420 for a stolen vehicle. The reporting party was able to provide information for the vehicle to be identified. Later, Cooper responded to CR 2175 for a disturbance. The vehicle reported at the disturbance was the same one that was reported stolen. Information was recovered for the people on scene, and Cooper patrolled the area looking for the vehicle. The vehicle was located and the owner was contacted. The case will be forwarded to CID.

April 14

Deputy Rapp received a phone call for a theft. The victim stated her vehicle was stolen from Kickapoo.  She was able to provide information regarding who possibly took the vehicle. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Rapp took a phone report of a stolen firearm. The victim stated he had a firearm in his vehicle on Sunday. When he looked for it on Monday, it was gone. The case will be sent to CID.
