Wood County Sheriff’s Report

December 8

Deputy Andrew Rapp responded to the Wood County Adult Probation Office for a falsified urine analysis. Jesse Tanner Jones, 28, of Mineola was arrested for falsification of drug test results and possession of controlled substance penalty group (PG) 3 <28 grams.

Deputy Rapp had a call of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The victim was able to give a possible suspect. The vehicle was entered into the national system.

December 9

Deputy John Cooper took a theft call from FM 2966. The party reported numerous items stolen from his residence. The report will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

Deputy Andrew Morrison was dispatched to CR 3147 for a disturbance. The victim stated she and her husband had been arguing all day. At some point, her husband pulled a knife and then threw an aluminum can, striking her. Avery Eugene Hartness, 63, of Quitman, was arrested for assault against the elderly or disabled individual.

Deputies John Cooper, Jonah Croney and Sgt. Corbin Hanner had a welfare concern on FM 778. They met with an individual experiencing a mental health crisis. He voluntarily went to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

Deputy Morrison went to CR 1900 for illegal dumping. Complaints were made regarding an individual dumping a pile of dirt on the roadway. The individual was contacted and advised not to be putting dirt on county roads.

Deputy Morrison took an illegal dumping call on Hwy. 154. The party stated someone had put numerous items in the company trash bin. The individual was contacted and advised that it was illegal to use private trash bins. They agreed to remove the items.

December 10

Deputy Matthew Cooper was on routine patrol on FM 2088 when he observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction. Upon making contact with the driver, Cooper detected the odor of burnt marijuana. Jonathan Dale Koerner, 41, of Quitman, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG 1 >=1g<4g.

Deputy Cole Hudson took a theft report in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office. The victim was able to provide names of possible suspects. The report was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Matthew Cooper and Sgt. Corbin Hanner had a call of a disturbance on CR 2120. The victim stated her daughter assaulted her. Jessenia Garcia, 24, of Quitman, was arrested for assault family/household member with previous conviction.

Deputy Linda Williams was dispatched to PR 8556 for an assault after the fact. After speaking with both individuals, the case will be forwarded to CID.

December 12

Deputy Williams responded to FM 2966 for a suspicious person. The party advised when he arrived at his lake house, he observed someone fishing off his deck. He then checked the house and found that it had been broken into as well. He stated nothing seemed to be out of place. The incident was filed for future reference.

Deputy Williams was advised of a structure fire on CR 4390. The Wood County fire marshal was forwarded the case.

Deputy Cole Hudson had a report of a burglary on CR 4287. The party stated his house was broken into and items were taken and property damaged. He listed his estranged wife as a suspect. Due to them still being married and still having access to the residence, this would be a civil matter.

December 13

Deputy Andrew Morrison, Sgt. Austin Milbourn, Sgt. Investigator Justin Bowring, Sgt. Investigator Jeremy Ragsdale and Investigation Captain Mike Chilson were sent to CR 1858 for an individual who had been held against her will. After making contact with the individuals inside, Colton William Rinks, 26, of Yantis was arrested for unlawful restraint. After further investigation by CID, Rinks was also charged with assault causing bodily injury family violence, unlawful restraint, sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault.

Deputy Jeff Baldwin took a theft of a firearm call on FM 69. Contact was made with the complainant and she was able to give a possible suspect. The gun was entered into the national system as stolen. The case will be reviewed by CID.

December 14

Deputy Jonah Croney was dispatched to CR 4510 for a disturbance in progress. After speaking with all individuals involved, Dakota Jack Lynlee Martin, 24, of Winnsboro, was arrested for assault causes bodily injury family violence.

Deputy Morrison responded to PR 5860 for a damaged property report. The party stated the individual that owned the property across from his decided to add a speed bump to the roadway. Since the road is a private road, the issue will have to be handled civilly.

Deputy John Cooper went to CR 3440 for a sexual assault. The case will be forwarded to CID.
