Wood Memorial residents take in classic car show
Life was a little brighter last week for residents of the Wood Memorial Nursing Home as members of the Lake Country Classic Car Club brought their classic vehicles to the Mineola residence with a mini car show.
The car show was one of many special events held at Wood Memorial last week as part of National Nursing Home Week.
Nine classic vehicles participated in the morning show, which included a Model A pickup along with other vintage automobiles. One resident took a ride in Errol Barber’s 1957 Thunderbird convertible.
The car club participates in parades, car shows, cruises and other community activities.
On Thursday, May 23, the club will host its May Cruise In at the Quitman Dairy Queen. All classic cars and trucks are welcome to attend the free event, and visitors can vote on their favorite vehicle. A “Peoples Choice Award” will be given to the public’s favorite automobile. The public is welcome to attend and enjoy the vintage vehicles and background music.
