Quitman stomps Big Sandy, 15-3

The Quitman Bulldogs started the season on a high note Thursday in Quitman with a 15-3 win over Big Sandy with pitcher Ben Burroughs giving up just two hits in the game.

The Bulldogs scored in each of the first four innings, leading 2-0 after the first inning and then scoring four runs in each the second and third innings and five in the bottom of the fourth. The game ended after Big Sandy batted in the top of the fifth because of the 10-run rule.

Bulldog Jake Farmer had two hits a run batted in and scored a pair of runs. Mason Tyree added two doubles and two RBI while Trey Berry scored four times and had three stolen bases. Catcher Ty Moss had a 2-2 day with an RBI and A.J. Dunn went 2-3, scored three runs and stole a pair of bases. Gage Tolle added a single and two runs scored while Guyton Williams was walked twice, hit by a pitch, scored two runs and had two steals.

The Bulldogs head to Newton for a tournament Thursday through Saturday.
