State amendments draw 10% Wood voter turnout

Though the turnout for last Tuesday’s state constitutional amendment election was low, Wood County’s 10% turnout was better than the state’s 8.7%.

Quitman Hometown Christmas plans advance

After a large turnout for last year’s first Hometown Christmas in Quitman, the committee planning the event is excited about the prospects for this year.

Mineola EDC agrees to fund mini-train depot

A covered waiting area and shade for the mini-train at Iron Horse Square were approved by the Mineola Economic Development Corp. last Thursday.

The Iron Horse Square Committee requested the money, and the MEDC board agreed to fund most of the requested project for $75,000. more

Spring primary filing begins Saturday

Filing period for the March 1 party primaries gets underway Saturday, Nov. 13 and runs through  Monday, Dec. 13.

All the major statewide offices are being contested along with U.S. and state representatives and state senate. more
