Target of manhunt arrested in Conroe

Target of manhunt arrested in Conroe
Mineola police announced Friday morning that Tony Ybarra, 27, the subject of a manhunt since early last week, had been arrested.
He was taken into custody without incident in Conroe Thursday at 8:22 p.m.
Ybarra fled on foot following a traffic stop May 25 not far from the police station on Greenville Hwy. While on the run down N. Johnson St., he fired at officers who were pursuing on foot. None were injured.
Mineola police thanked the following agencies for their assistance in the search: Winnsboro police, Quitman police, Hawkins police, Mineola ISD police, Constable Kelly Smith, Rains County Sheriff, Wood County Sheriff and Texas DPS.
Agencies involved in Ybarra’s arrest include the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force, The East Texas Anti-Gang Center, the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force, the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, the Montgomery County SWAT unit and the Conroe Police Dept.
Ybarra faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant, parole violation warrant for aggravated robbery and a resisting arrest warrant.
