“In unity, there is strength.” For generations to come, motorists traveling south on U.S. Hwy. 69 (South Pacific St.) in Mineola will be reminded of that message, emblazoned across the top of a colorful mural – the first major public art of the Wood County Unity Mural Project.

County orders outdoor burning ban

Wood County commissioners voted unanimously to approve an order to prohibit outdoor burning in unincorporated areas of the county for 90 days from Tuesday’s date.

County EDC contributes to memory center project

The Wood County Economic Development Commission approved a substantial donation to the Center for Memory and Health Education to be constructed on 29 acres east of the UT Health Quitman Hospital.
