At a middle school district track meet held April 2 Alba-Golden’s seventh grade girls track team has a dominant performance as they were crowned district champions.

A-G’s eighth grade girls finished in fifth place, the seventh grade boys finished in third place and the eighth grade boys finished in fifth place.

For the seventh grade girls team Savana Smith finished second individually with 33.333 total points during the meet, her teammates Cacie Lennon finished right behind her in third with 30.333 points, Landry Lewers tied for fourth with 25 points and Skyler West came in sixth with 22 points.

The point system is tabulated but placement in a variety of track and field events to create a cumulative individual and team score.

Among seventh graders Lennon won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.84, Carlee Dooley won the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.59. West finished in third place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:50.46, and she also came in third in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:32. Smith came in second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.03 and second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 53.76.

The relay team also won the 4X100 meter dash with a time of 57.22. The relay included Nateya Porter, Landry Lewers, Dooley and Lennon. Smith, Porter, Lennon and Crimson Bryant won the 4X400 dash as they also came in first place with a time of 4:41. Lewers also won the shot put with a throw of 35’ 5 ½”, she also came in second in the discus with a throw of 55’6”. Lennon also placed in second in the triple jump with her longest jump coming at 27’ 10 ¾”. Smith was named seventh grade girls pole vault champion with a vault of 6’6”.

For A-G’s eighth grade girls Gracie Teel had 34 points scoring over half the teams points won the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.40 she also came in second in the 4500 meter dash with a time of 1:08.17. Teel finished second in the high jump with her best jump measured at 4’ 5” and teammate Kadence Thompson came in third with a jump of 4’ 2”. Teel also placed third in the pole vault with a vault of 6’ 6”.

The seventh grade boys team also had a solid performance as Dawson Pendergrass was the top athlete with 36 points won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.62, Logan Sullivan came in third at 13.35. Sullivan also came in third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.28. Glen Hartley came in second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:04.05. The relay team also did well with a third place finish in the 4X100 meter dash. The relay team was Pendergrass, Hartley, Luke Morrison and Brady Shrum as they finished with a time of 53.72. The 4X400 meter relay team also came in third with a time of 4:24. That team was Conner Gibson, Pendergrass, Hartley and Shrum. Pendergrass also won the long jump and high jump competitions with his best jump coming in at 16’ 8” for long jump and 5’ in the high jump. Hartley won the pole vault with a vault of 7’ 6”.

The eighth grade boys had their fair share of champions as well with Taylor Mobley winning the 400 meter dash at 1:00.31 and Ford Tannenbum winning the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.88. Thai Peterson also came in second in the high jump with his highest jump coming at 5’ 2” Nick Hallman won the Pole Vault at 9’ and both Peterson and Tannenbaum tied for third with a vault of 8’.
