Alba City Council adopts budget and tax rate
The Alba City Council approved a combined tax rate of $.7753 per $100 valuation at a special meeting Monday to set the tax rate and approve the budget for 2024.
The special meeting was preceded by a public hearing to discuss the budget and tax rate.
No residents made comments at the hearing.
The approved tax rate represented a 14.7% decrease from the previous year.
The difference was attributed to reduced debt burden and higher property appraisals.
A resolution required for submission of a Community Development Block Grant targeted for street improvements, was approved with a stipulation that the amount of the requested grant be corrected to read $350,000. The draft document received from the state was in error.
The council took no action on the bid received for renovations to city hall.
The action was tabled as the council determined that they desired to have more than a single bid.
