Alba City Council looks at budget
Alba City Council took a detailed look at the proposed 2023-24 budget Monday.
Among items discussed included a 39% increase in the cost of employee health insurance, which jumped to $53,000.
A four-percent pay increase is included in the proposal.
The council also talked about the possibility of adding a temporary position in public works later in the year.
The police budget is proposed to increase about $5,000.
City Secretary Lindy McCarty suggested the council consider having the interior of city hall painted.
The street budget was left at $22,000, although the city will see additional street repairs thanks to a grant.
