Alba council proposes officer
Alba City Council set two special budget meetings and proposed adding a full-time police officer at last Monday’s August meeting.
The new officer would supplement the staff which includes a full-time police chief and one part-time officer.
The council will meet Aug. 15 to propose the property tax rate and again Sept. 20 to adopt the budget and tax rate.
Chief Juan Ramirez discussed new stop signs installed on Quitman St. at Shoemaker. He plans to add stop signs on College St. at Higginbotham.
The council adopted revisions to the drought contingency plan. The city remains on stage one water restrictions, which are voluntary.
A proposed purchasing policy was discussed and changes proposed.
