Alba-Golden ISD approves resignations
The Alba-Golden School Board approved the balance of teacher contracts for the 2026-27 school year at a regularly-scheduled board meeting Monday night, March 23. Relatedly, the district just received the results of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) salary survey. The survey will serve as the foundation for the next iteration of the district’s compensation package.
In other action, the board approved the resignations of LaRay Cooper, Kimberly Martin, Sara Matlack and Kelli Stevenson. Resignations for retirement by Starla Bryant and Marianne Midkiff were also approved.
During public comments, resident Brandi Varner expressed concern at the number of uncertified teachers which the district employed. She also questioned the transparency of teacher certifications in the district.
Trustees also approved a joint election agreement with the City of Alba, and approved the state requirement for identifying instructional materials. The board also scheduled an online auction of surplus material. The auction will open April 20 and conclude April 28.
Canyon Nixon was recognized as the elementary school student of the month. Secondary school designees were Taelyn Byron and Carly Williams.
Para-professional Dariela Rivera and culinary arts teacher Dana Haisten were selected as elementary and secondary school employees of the month, respectively.
