Alba-Golden track teams area champs
Alba-Golden boys and girls brought home area track titles last Wednesday and in the process qualified 10 boys and nine girls for the regional meet Friday and Saturday in Springtown.
The boys scored 143 points, winning by 59 points. They were led by wins from Jake Hallman in the 200 meters (23.6), Cameron Lennon in the 110-meter hurdles (18.28), Aiden Standifer in the 300-meter hurdles (44.56), Wyatt Sutton in the triple jump (40’8.5”) and Alex Pfingsten in the pole vault (9’).
Also qualifying for regional were Hallman (3rd) and Glenn Hartley (4th) in the 100 meters, Sutton in the 200 (4th), Payton Dickinson in the 400 meters (3rd), Lennon (2nd) and Pfingsten (4th) in the 300 hurdles, the 400-meter relay team of Hartley, Dickinson, Sutton and Hallman (3rd), the 800-meter relay team of Hartley, Sutton, Gavin Parker and Brandt Peterson (4th), the 1600-meter relay team of Lennon, Pfingsten, Standifer and Dickinson (2nd), Hallman (4th) in the long jump and Luke Morrison (2nd) and Hallman (3rd) in the pole vault.
The Lady Panthers edged Como-Pickton for the title 116-112. The teams were tied heading into the final event, with Alba-Golden winning the 1,600-meter relay in 4:29.78, edging Como-Pickton in second place by 7.5 seconds.
Team members were Kamrin Wright, Braelyn Massie, Lainey Teel and Cacie Lennon.
Other wins came from the 800-meter relay team of Wright, Teel, Landrie Boyd and Kalli Trimble (1:55.24), Lennon in the shot put (33’6.75”) and Olivia Morrison in the pole vault (9’6”).
Also qualifying for regionals were Lennon (4th) in the 100 meters, Trimble (3rd) in the 200 meters, Massie (3rd) in the 400 meters, Erin Langston (3rd) in the 100-meter hurdles, the 400-meter relay team of Wright, Massie, Trimble and Lennon (2nd), Lennon in the long jump (3rd) and Kayleigh Logan (3rd) and Emily Hlavaty (4th) in the pole vault.
